It was my friend Akane's birthday recently, and she requested that I draw her with her puppy. I wanted to ink it and possibly add some color, but I hurt my hand and had to settle for this. I really should draw animals more often!
I submitted a 45 page comic a couple of months ago, so hopefully I'll hear something back soon!
A French friend commissioned me to create a logo for her CIM class. They had some rough sketches already done, so my job was fairly straightforward. Choosing the right font was more time-consuming than creating the logo itself, ha ha. The blue was originally flat, so I added a radial gradient to add some volume, as well as reinforce the "CIM."
This was another design of theirs. I'm glad they chose the other one since this made me think of Earth as a tilted Saturn. The blue behind the text was my idea so that it had some weight, but I did one without it for comparison's sake.
It was a nice change of pace to work on something like this, especially since it will actually be used at her university! I'll post a link once it's up on their site and official.
This is my Icelandic friend as Marvel's Dagger, of Cloak and Dagger. She had mentioned how pretty the northern lights were, so I used some photo reference of Iceland to paint the background. She's using this as her Facebook cover photo. Coincidentally enough, the dagger points right at her profile picture, ha ha ha. Happy accidents.
My French friend that I nicknamed "Sarapii."
And finally, my friend Akane as Catwoman. The Dark Knight Rises was awesome, and I loved Anne Hathaway's portrayal of Selina Kyle.
Some of my friends requested sketches of them and I finally got around to them now that my portfolio is done:
It's always fun working on likenesses since I don't feel like they're an area I'm strong in.
These are the characters from a story I'm boarding for my portfolio. I never really drew in Photoshop until this project. Most of the time, I used it to color illustrations that I had penciled and inked traditionally. Luckily I got used to it fairly quickly since I did have experience using a Wacom.
I'll post the boards once everything's done and sent off.
I exaggerated more than I usually do, which was fun, so I'll have to do it far more often. Click "read more" to see the rest of the sketches!
About two weeks ago, I found out that British singer Leona Lewis chose my illustration of her to use as her Twitter profile picture! I was quite surprised. Check it out!
I felt like drawing something Naruto-related before bed and this is what I came up with. The Sharingan is pretty awesome.
A friend of mine asked if I had time to draw something for a friend of his so that he could give it to her this weekend at her graduation. Although likenesses are an area I need more work in, I was happy to help out!
He said it was amazing and relayed to me that she loved it as well. What a relief! It can be a roll of the dice when you're drawing someone, ha ha ha. I thought it looked nice in the frame he put it in.
A couple of my friends had birthdays this past week, so I did some sketches for them.
For Melanie, my Slytherin sis from Pottermore!
For Laura, my future super doctor friend and soon-to-be ninja student :D
It's been forever yet again. Poor art blog. I spent the past several weeks working on a comic, so that ate up all of my time. I'll be posting more things in the near future, and more regularly.
Late Night Light Bulbs
I could have modeled watches if art hadn't twisted my hand into a gnarled monkey claw.
