This was a fun commission of an original character owned by a guy named Dan Williams. I wish that every who commissioned me was as easy and fun to work with as him!
He said her outfit consisted of a neon hoodie, a pastel floral-print short dress, and Converse shoes. He liked the look of her face and hair, but decided to switch out the shoes and belt for boots and an owl pendant. He also suggested a pose that looked like she was waiting for someone.
After getting the green light on my sketch, I began work on the final piece.
I've been using a crow quill for the most part for the part several months, but he said he liked the look of one of my previous illustrations that was mostly inked with a brush. Luckily I wasn't too rusty with it! I still used a quill for most of the interior line work.
It took longer than I expected to figure out a color scheme that involved neon and pastel colors. I finally decided on cool colors for the clothes that would balance out the warm color of her skin. He then asked if I could change her hair from black to dark brown.
It looked strange and flat when I did that, so I added some more detail to it as well as her eyes. Originally, I intended on adding some subtle vines to her dress, but they ended up looking too distracting. You may see more of her in the near future!

I could have modeled watches if art hadn't twisted my hand into a gnarled monkey claw.
